The Gallup Organization's State of the 2021 Global Workplace reports that 7 out of 10 employees are struggling or suffering in their overall lives. Eighty percent are not engaged or are actively disengaged at work.
Psychological safety is where every good manager begins.
Without psychological safety as a foundation, it's harder to engage your team in feedback, coaching and development.
If your employees don't trust you or believe you care, you will be just another footnote in lost productivity costs.
Psychological safety builds a climate of inclusion, trust, and respect, which increases learning, innovation and customer satisfaction, too.
"Going forward, businesses will not be measured by profits alone. They also will be measured by their positive impact on people, the planet, and the overall health and wellbeing of the workplace." (State of the Global Workplace 2021 Report by The Gallup Organization)
Health is Wealth.
If you want more empathy, more learning, more inclusion, more trust, more creativity, and more innovation, BUILD IT with the behaviors and skills of psychological safety.

Psychological Safety IMPACTS Physical, Mental, and Performance Health
Psychological safety—or lack of it—is a SPECTRUM that is always in motion within the brain. When we don’t feel psychologically safe—depending on the degree to which that is true—learning, growth, and development are blocked, either temporarily or habitually.
Repeated activations of fight-or-flight (the sympathetic nervous system) can wreak havoc on our whole health—physical, mental, and performative. Conversely, repeated activations of rest-and-digest (the parasympathetic nervous system) optimizes our whole health.
Psychological safety is for everyone—and each level in an organization has a different focus for how to influence and integrate the practices of psychological safety.
The value of work depends on how safe people feel to speak up, share information, and work together toward successful outcomes.

About Sandra Alessi
My learning career began three decades ago at The Forum Corporation to design and develop Forum’s intellectual property – as well as client solutions – in the areas of sales, service, and leadership/ management.
In 2005, I moved to Fidelity Investments where I continued to provide expertise in learning design across their many diverse lines of businesses. My seminal achievement was with Fidelity’s Talent and Leadership group. In that role, I worked with senior leadership to design their manager effectiveness program, Take15 – a blended micro-learning video solution packaged in 15-minute modules. Sponsored by senior leadership, the program required mandatory completion for all of Fidelity’s global management audience. The program’s goal was to remind managers why management matters and why – as leaders – they are the primary influence that empowers teams to high performance. The program received an 80%+ approval rating – on all modules – from Level 1 and Level 3 feedback.
In 2020, I launched LEARNSCAPE DESIGN, LLC as a way to build my own content for a broader client base. Psychological Safety: The express route to high performance, learning, and innovation is my first launch – a blended micro-learning video solution for any and all leaders who desire to enrich and empower team engagement, learning, and innovation.
My lifelong love of learning – combined with my love of leadership concepts – continues to inspire my passion to design elegant solutions that help leaders transform themselves into leaders that inspire teams to achieve high performance and success.
